No no no no no this is a COMPLETE misunderstanding of the Yin Yang Concept. The distinction between Yin and Yang is not something as simple and 2-D as “Good” and “Bad”, they represent two seemingly opposite and independent forces that are actually complementary and interconnected in the natural world. (Think “fire and water” or “push and pull”) The action of one will influence the action of the other, and the two cannot exist without each other. They are so close that in a way yin is yang and yang is yin.
So please stop reblogging this in an attempt to be profound about life because you aren’t and you’re insulting Chinese philosophy in the process.

  • Women gained the right to vote in Canada before Aboriginal people did. Women’s suffrage was granted before World War II, but Aboriginal people had to wait until the late 60s to be allowed to vote. Aboriginal women? A few years after.
  • Slavery happened in Canada. It’s our…

i tell this to americans who fantasize about canada being this all-liberal free healthcare heaven and they legit don’t believe me.

like, do you people know that residential schools were around and operating up until 1996?? do you know how recent that is?

you know also more than half of all hate crimes in canada is motivated by race/ethnicity?

just last week some dickwad racist fuckface shouted “me rove you rong time” at me across the street in my town, which by the way, once housed the KKK headquarters in my province.

western canada minus vancouver is also the ideological equivalent of the american midwest-south and i swear to you you’ll find more assholes wanting to deport muslim canadians than you’ll find bacteria on a public telephone.

there are also black nova scotians, descendants from colonized slaves from the states and latin america, who’ve been subject to systematic racism for a century-plus, who by the way, are now suffering the loss of their communities and livelihoods through gentrification and urban sprawls. the province’s premiere also gerrymandered electoral districts to eliminate their political power (as if they had any) FURTHER. (and did you know, the premiere is an NDPer, which is ideologically “democrat socialist”?)

canada is a country of colonizers and US imperial allies. “hate crime” may be illegal, but the prosecution and conviction rates are MUCH lower than reporting rates, and not to forget, the wording of the legislation is very vague. do not doubt for a second that we operate on the same white supremacist, anti-indigenous and neocolonial policies and politics as our southern neighbour, just because have public healthcare. (WHICH BY THE WAY, ISN’T EXACTLY PUBLIC. it’s semi-public. health care providers still operate like businesses, except it’s provinces who just pick up the tab.)

########## SIGNAL BOOST THIS PLEASE!!! ##########

Kay, so, it just recently got to my attention that there is possibly a Tumblr Virus going around. And this post has so little notes, so I decided to make THIS BIG IMAGE and hopefully THIS will get your attention.

It is on the askmgc blog, whatever you do, don’t login. Do not login whatsoever.

It’s not actually confirmed it’s a virus, but here’s a few suspicious things:

  1. The url. I mean, shouldn’t it be a simple “tumblr.com/login” (and maybe a redirect.) Not tumblr.com.accounts.login.userid.###### etc?
  2. The background image doesn’t change, and it’s supposed to.
  3. "Blam"?? What? I don’t even know what to say about this but other than "game-over"? (Don’t worry, I put in fake credentials, obviously.)

So yeah, if you see this, do not log in at all.

(Just gonna thank magicalgirlconfessions and rlinksoul down here. Thanks, you guys!)

I think there needs to be some real dialogue about romanticizing mental illness, especially on tumblr. There are so many posts and pictures going around that say things like “tragically beautiful,” or “I…

Anonymous said: How did you develop such an original art style?

Hmm… well that is a good question my good sir! (Also as an aside I’m glad you think it’s unique honest thank)

I really struggled awhile back trying to find my own “style” and it really didn’t go very well and just made me really upset and frustrated so I just… stopped doing that. Which I learned later is a pretty solid approach to finding your style, stop worrying about it and just draw.

Once I stopped fretting over it, as I was drawing I started to look at some of my favorite works and decided what I liked about those artist’s styles. (my main inspirations are studio ghibli, chris sanders, and lulles). Like, specifically. Was it the noses? legs? how they made things move? When I pinpointed that, I tried to focus on that part of my own art (make cool noses, legs, or give the body more flow etc). And a lot of attempts at life drawing. I say attempts because they never turned out real good but it does help along.

… and I think thats how I reached whatever style I’ve got today. And it’s still changing (some time for better, usually for worse haha)

One Photographer Showcases Mexico’s Gender Defying Indigenous Community

I keep seeing this reblogged uncritically and there’s a couple of things that should be addressed. Some muxes also identify as homosexual men, and some as trans women. Some do not co-identify with any Western identity, because there is no Western equivalent that encompasses all the same nuances “muxe” does. Muxes predate European colonization and, and they survived the violent suppression of similar identities across the New World. At the same time, the culture has had to adapt to the imposition of Catholicism and rigid European gender roles. There are a lot of articles about muxes that contain little or no commentary from muxes themselves. We should be very careful about blithely taking Western authors at their word, especially when they use phrases like “men who take on the traditional roles of women”, which demonstrates a shallow, racist, cissexist and colonialist approach to a facet of indigenous culture Westerners are poorly equipped to understand and reliably describe.

SAY IT AGAIN

thank u
